ELCA Gathering 2012 - Day Two: Oh, It's On!

OK, so today was a roller-coaster day fo sho; kids slept in and I soaked thru a shirt just walking to Starbucks at 9:00am and it was only a mile round-trip, hot stuff y'all..,

Had a great breakfast at Mothers, we now know all about grits! Shopping in the French Quarter was fun for some, then had an early fancy, sit-down dinner - these kids can EAT when they want to!

Opening night was AWESOME, great speakers, especially Nadia, and everyone was leaving fired up - except for the storm outside! We stayed in the Lutherdome for a while until we finally received the OK to leave. As we slowly inched our way out, we thought of all the people stuck in the dome for days on end, more hot, more anxious, but with no cell phones, no hope of walking out the door - truly humbling to think about...

Once outside, we found ourselves glad they kept us inside during the bad because the "good" storm was still pretty wet and loud! We made it back drenched but safe and ended our day with discussion and prayers - our 15 minute devotion turned into a hour of insight, introspection, and listening!

Off to bed now, need to be up at 6am tomorrow and to the Lutherdome at 7:30 for our Service Day - pray for us to have open hearts and minds as we go into the community to be Gods hands and feet...
